•  Michelle Niemeyer, le disputa el asiento al Comisionado  Marc Sarnoff

MIAMI, 8 DE SEPTIEMBRE DE 2011, nhr.com—Horas después de que el nuevo jefe interino de policía, Manny Oroza, sacara de la unidad de Asuntos Internos al ahora sargento Alfredo Álvarez, la candidata a la comisión de Miami por el Distrito 2, Michelle Niemeyer, dio a conocer que fue tratada de modo agresivo por el excomandante Álvarez. Esto ha motivado rumores de que Álvarez esté actuando por órdenes del comisionado Marc Sarnoff y se encuentre siguiendo o vigilando a candidatos que surjan para ocupar el asiento de Sarnoff en las próximas elecciones.

El suceso llegó a nelsonhortareporta en las últimas horas, a través de un correo electrónico de la propia candidata Michelle Niemeyer. En el correo Niemeyer nos relata un incidente ocurrido la mañana del martes, mientras tomaba un café con leche junto a una amistad en la cafetería de la lavandería Mary’s, en la esquina de la Avenida 27 del Suroeste y la 25 Terrace. Según la candidata, frente por frente a ella estaba estacionado y mirándola en ocasiones el sargento Alfredo Álvarez.

Como se sabe, Álvarez era el sargento de armas (Sargeant at Arms) del comisionado Sarnoff antes de ser elevado al rango de comandante por Miguel Expósito.

Según nos relata la candidata Niemeyer, ella, al ver que Álvarez permanecía frente al establecimiento, intercambió miradas con él,  decidiendo ir y tirarle unas fotos al vehículo y dejar constancia del número de su chapa o tablilla. Esto molestó al excomandante, quien salió del SUB y se dirigió a ella, comenzando agresivamente a acusarla de que le estaba grabando su conversación telefónica y advirtiéndole que eso era ilegal.

“Al yo rechazar su acusación, y decirle que solo estaba tomándole una foto a la chapa de su carro, no me creyó y me repetía en varias ocasiones la acusación de estarle grabando la conversación telefónica. Finalmente le dije que él no tenia que temer, porque yo no le estaba grabando su conversación telefónica, pero su actitud fue muy agresiva”, señaló Michelle.

Nelsonhortareporta trató de buscar al sargento Alfredo Álvarez, pero nos dijeron que se había tomado tres días de vacaciones.

Yesterday morning shortly after 7:00, I went with a friend for breakfast at Mary’s Coin Laundry at 27th Avenue and 25th Terrace. We parked, bought our café con leche and pastelitos, and sat down at a table.  I noticed shortly thereafter that there was a large, black Suburban that looked a lot like the official city SUVs parked directly across the street.  The person in the front seat looked like Al Alvarez, but I couldn’t be sure.  He stayed there, sitting in his car, for a very long time.  At one point I made eye contact and he looked away.  After at least ten minutes, I walked across the street and took a picture of his license plate (you can see my reflection in the picture).  I went back to the table and he got on the phone and stayed on the phone for a long time.  Finally, he got out of the car and walked across the street.  He definitely was Al Alvarez. I know Al from the time when he was our Commissioner’s Sargeant at Arms.  I said, cheerily, “Hi Al!”  He said hello and acted as if he was buying something.  He then turned around (I didn’t see that he had anything in his hands that he had bought) and very aggressively warned me that I should know if I was recording his phone conversation that was illegal.  I told him I wasn’t recording his phone conversation, I just took a picture of his license plate. He seemed surprised by my candor, said that’s not illegal, and then repeated his warning about voice recording.  I told him, “Al, I didn’t record your conversation, I was just taking a picture of your license plate.” He again repeated his warning about voice recording being illegal. I told him he didn’t need to worry about me recording anything.  His attitude toward me was very aggressive.
